8th April 2017 Marvolo Quartet play Shostakovich and Zoltán Kodály
Free lunchtime concert at Holy Trinity Church, Warrington at 12:30
The Marvolo Quartet are a fresh, dynamic string quartet that are firmly establishing themselves in Manchester.
Their recent performances include the sold-out ‘Neon Sonnets’ series at the John Ryland’s Library as part of ‘Manchester After Hours’, and premiering two new compositions in the “Decontamination 7: Boulez/Bowie” concert at the RNCM this year. As well as this, they performed acclaimed composer Colin Matthews’ String Quartet No.5, working with him on the piece for RNCM’s ‘In Focus’ series in June 2016.
In addition to working with Matthews, they have also performed with the renowned Elias Quartet on a recent visit to the college, as well as receiving coaching from members of the Chilingirian Quartet, Talich Quartet and Solem Quartet. They are regularly coached by Donald Grant of the Elias Quartet, and Suzie Meszaros of the Chilingirian Quartet.
